I really gotta work on being a better son to my parents. Not that I’m a bad son by any means, but I just wanna give them the world, when I’m actuality, all they want to do is spend time/talk.
I work 12 hour night shifts, have 2 part time gigs, workout damn near religiously, & live in a time zone 3 hours behind them. It’s hard to always match times up, but I’ve gotta make a better effort.
I have friends that had to bury their parents this year. Some due to Covid, others due to other circumstances. I’ve dated women who had to bury their moms before they got to 25. Our parents are literally constants in our lives, so we accidentally take them for granted at times.
Like I have goals I’m working towards, and they understand and respect that. I know they’re proud of me, but sometimes I know instead of another degree, or a workplace accomplishment, they’d love to just have a conversation with me.
