Ok there’s something I’ve been wanting to talk about for a while but didn’t know how to so bear with me
Not all weight loss is healthy. Anyone who knows me knows I’ve been overweight for as long as I can remember, and anyone who’s seen me recently hits me up with the “omg youve lost so much weight!!!”
Now, under normal circumstances, I would consider this a compliment since I’ve been trying to achieve a normal weight. But this time, despite reaching my goal, it didn’t happen the healthy way
I’ve been going through a lot of mental and physical health issues which ended up with me being nauseous for many months on end, so I barely ate anything and hence, BOOM lost a lot of weight
So when people try to compliment me on the weight loss I try to explain them why they shouldn’t, to which I get two equally messed up replies:
Reply #1: “Yeah but at least you lost weight”

You’re normalizing unconventional and poor eating habits for the sake of appearance and this could encourage someone to develop an eating disorder pls reconsider what you’re saying
Reply #2: “You could still lose a bit more weight tho right?”

I’m still in shock and don’t know how to reply to this. I lost a lot of weight in a very short time due to health issues and that’s what a *healthcare professional* thought would be a normal reply. I don’t have words
Basically, as @Juman16__ has said before, “no matter how small you think your comments are, they’re big”
Think about what you say and who you’re saying it to. It’s not healthy for either person in the conversation involved to do this
Please be more conscious of your words. Don’t normalize this; stop commenting on people’s bodies, trust me: THEY KNOW.
