There is a mistake we are making with the issue of Engagement.

Your Negotiator is not necessarily your Leader.
He's just your REPRESENTATIVE.

You can build a team to engage and negotiate and give them a list of demands that they are not allowed to deviate from.
#SARSMUSTEND
You can demand that the negotiations happen at a Panel that has its proceedings broadcasted live.

You can have supporters in their hundreds outside at the venue of the panel peacefully showing your commitment.

But you HAVE to engage to see this through
You can demand that Amnesty International and such be impartial observers at the proceedings that will be broadcast live.

There are ways to do this thing to get the results you need.

Focus on those ways now that you have traction instead.

Seal the Win.
Your Negotiator is NOT your Leader.

There's a perfect time to get into negotiations and have them shaped in a way that favors You.

That's what we have now.
Suspend the protests so the Movement can work on the best way to engage.
#SARSMUSTEND
Being nimble and flexible is your key strength.

Knowing how to target and manipulate institutions you want to work in your favor is important.

Sustained protests eventually breed resentment.
You saw it during Covid19 lockdowns.

Do what will keep public support on your side.
Let's be guided by what happened in 1999.

A lot of the activists who fought Abacha refused to accept the offer of democratic elections from the Abdulsalami Administration.

They refused to engage and work with what was offered.

Others took it up and got into civilian govt.
Maybe Gani would have won the Ondo state governor if he had gone for it.

A number of them were well-meaning but rigid.

That naivete cost us because a lot of the wrong people got power and now we're back with Abacha's friend Buhari.

Be strategic.
Don't repeat these mistakes.
Don't let your anger and focus on one way of doing things limit your results.

You have blown open a channel.
If you do not take advantage, charlatans will take full advantage.
They know how to profit from situations.

You have already seen the signs surely, right?
You see these protests? Trust me the older generation fought.
You need to find out what happened in UI, OAU, UNIBEN, etc back then.

DSS was taking student leaders to cells up north. Things happened.
Stop saying the older generation did nothing.

Just learn from their mistakes
The end of this whole thing is Power. Never forget that

The short-term project should be influencing 2023 elections and planting young people committed to this movement at the FOUNDATION of all levels of Nigerian Govt.

If you achieve that, then by 2040, You will be in charge.
In the thread pasted are the NBA's plans for the SARS situation going forward.
Please read them.

IMO a partnership that pairs the energy& organisation of the #EndSars Movement with the structure& expertise of the NBA is the best step forward.
