Thanks all but I’m looking for the exact date. I’ve found all the obvious Google articles that say mid 1900s but that doesn’t answer the question. I understand there were exceptions and that men could co-sign but I’m looking for that precise answer and can’t seem to find it.
Thanks everyone. I’m losing track of the replies! Seems like anyone could get a bank acct but not a loan or credit card until the SDA in 84. Also, wow to the shitty stories of discrimination and infantilisation. It wasn’t that long ago. As usual, horrified but not surprised.
