I’m a huge fan of #GameBoys, but not because it’s a BL story. I’m not a BL fan per se. I just love cinema in general. IMPECCABLE — From writing to directing to acting. The battle between realities and ironies in the writing was simply creative as opposed to being too poetic. The directing was on point despite the challenges that this pandemic brought onto the filming of GameBoys.

Direk Ivan did a great job at putting the artistic and dramatic elements together. Not to forget are the two lead actors, Elijah and Kokoy. Watching Elijah as Cairo from first to last ep was like reading about Harry Potter from first to last book.

Just like Harry, Elijah has embodied this character who has insecurities, always on-guard, strongly guided by his conscience, which what actually helped him to come out in the end and fight for what is right.

Kokoy on the other hand is a natural actor. I admire how Kokoy can easily drop those tears when required in a scene. He is not afraid to look petty or ugly, which for me is a sign of a great actor.

Both have that X-factor, and though they’ve been around the acting scene for many years already, now is the perfect time for them to shine.

I’ve seen the GSP eps and some other Pinoy BLs all because of great reviews. GSP is good but I couldn’t find anything special about it. I will keep watching it, but it’s a show that I will probably forget in a few months. It could become one of the better BL series.

GameBoys however is way up there along with the other TV/web greats. In fact, Quaranthings for me is at least 2 stars better than GSP, not to mention Royce Cabrera’s acting which I thinks is as great as Kokoy’s and Elijah’s in GameBoys.

GameBoys is like the Harry Potter of BL series. There are going to be great children’s stories after Harry Potter, but Harry Potter will always be that supreme creation.

Finally, the clincher as to why GameBoys so far is unbeatable is because of @theideafirst_co. If you get the chance to watch their bosses, Perci Intalan and/or Jun Lana talk about GameBoys, you will hear nothing but words of wisdom from them. They’re so down-to-earth.

That resounding altruism of these two accomplished filmmakers just make GameBoys extra super special.
