How to not get fucked over by dirty cops in Malaysia.
A thread.

Now as a Malaysian, we've all experienced uncomfortable situations with corrupt police officers looking for some 💰
I for one have had my fair share. If you don't know what I'm talking about here's an example,
You could be driving home late from work, or walking down to the mamak to meet your friends for that Mu vs Chelsea game when suddenly two police officers on their motorbikes stop you out of nowhere and starts "doing their duty" (gif) when actually they just want to "cari makan"
So in this thread, I'm going to teach you how to handle such unpleasantries the proper way.

1. Know your civil rights
I cannot stress this enough, go online, search for http://Malaysianbar.Org.My  and look for BUKU MERAH. That my friends is your Malaysian civil rights handbook.
Please educate yourself. I assure you, you will not regret it. You can download the pdf and save it on your phone for you to read/ use whenever the need arises.

2. Identify your captors
When a police officer stops you, whether they be in
uniform or not, make sure to ask them to identify themselves. By asking for their authority card (kad kuasa)
or by taking note of their names, and badge number, also ask them which station they're from and call it just to make sure to gegar their balls a bit.
3. Authority Cards (Kad Kuasa)
Every PDRM officer in Malaysia has these special cards which states their names, rank and badge number. Categorised by different colours based on their ranks.
Blue: Inspector or above
Yellow: Below the rank of inspector
White: Reserve Police
And
Red: Suspended police officer. If you see a red card, you may just walk the fuck away from that person bc they have no authority to do anything whatsoever to you.

4. Don't be afraid to exercise your rights
When an officer stops you, you are only obliged to provide your name,
IC, and address. If they ask for more, politely reply with "Am I under arrest?" if they say no. You can just walk away n refuse to follow them to the balai. It is your right to do so. If they say yes, ask them "why and under what charges am I getting arrested for." If they
Cannot answer, you may issue a police report for unlawful arrests but make sure to take note of their name, badge number and car plate number.

Now, if the officer wants to search your car/ bags and pat you down, know that they can only do so when in the presence of an inspector
Or a higher ranking officer is in the premise. You have the right to decline if no high ranking officer is found on the scene. But do so politely with a smile 😊. That'd make em go oh shiiiit. This is why its important to ask for their authority cards when first making contact.
5. If you done fucked up
If you do get arrested and brought to the balai polis. Don't answer any questions until you get a lawyer. Say "I'd like to exercise my right to be silent." and request for a lawyer. You also have the right for a phone call
So call your parents or your guardian and drop that bomb as gently as you can.

Well I think I've got it all down. I hope this will help some of you if you ever find yourselves in shitty situations with bad cops. But this is just the tip of the iceberg so do what I said in no 1.
Also, manners and politeness goes a long way when dealing with police officers. Better safe than sorry I'd say. Anyways, stay hydrated, sanitise, wear your masks and thanks for reading!
