damon's life was always terrible. his father mistreated him, his mother abandoned him, he fell in love with the same woman as his brother, she tricked them both and then she "die". damon was forced to become a vampire and to be immortal though he didn't want it.

a lot of people say that damon was always a monster and that he murdered people, but he wasn't always. he never wanted that life and at first tried to correct his brother and save his life

damon spent most of his life alone and with his humanity off, he never had human feelings since he became a vampire. unlike stefan, damon didn't have a lexi to accompany him and help him be better, he had no one.

damon was kidnapped, spent entire years of his life locked up, being tortured, and when he managed to connect with his humanity and create a bond with a friend he lost him and waw forced to put off his humanity. how do u expect man not to feel contempt for humans?

even though damon showed no feelings, by the time he met elena it was proved that he had his humanity, the connection with her was instantaneous

even if u guys mean that this scene is "creepy" all it reflects is damon's humanity. as everyone thought he was a monster without feelings but in reality he took care of elena and he gave everything for her. she was the connection to his humanity
