We as Nigerian youths understand that the Police Reforms cannot be made overnight, we are well aware of this fact but the truth is that we dont trust the govt nor the current leadership of @PoliceNG to see this changes through

We need to first see actual progress in some areas before the calm comes. The root causes of what led to the #SARSMUSTEND protest can be summarized in two short points below:

1. There has been no merit based recruitment in the @PoliceNG in over 25years & this has brought officers who see the NPF as a means to get rich & who have godfathers in the very same force,

then these godfathers protect these erring officers when they commit atrocities which ultimately have led to the #SARSMUSTEND protests across the country.

2. Facts are that some senior officers send their boys to perpetrate all these atrocities & returns are made directly to these senior officers who in turn shield these guys when they are caught.

How then do we trust #ReformThePoliceNG to policemen who have passed through a police system of oppression & inhuman/degrading treatment of citizens and institutionalized corruption?

In my opinion all arms of government, have a role to play in checkmating the excesses of the @PoliceNG and below is how:

1. The Legislature @DrAhmadLawan & @femigbaja have to immediately proceed to make amendments to our Evidence Act and expunge the admissibility of illegally obtained evidence in courts. #SARSMUSTEND #EndPoliceBrutalityinNigeria #ReformThePoliceNG @segalink

This would position Nigeria evidence law in line with international standard by requiring a signed search warrant from a judge before conducting searches and obtaining evidence.

2. The Executive @MBuhari needs to put someone in the @PoliceNG leadership that in not from that system to win the trust of the youths back as this protest is not about #SARS alone but about the entire @PoliceNG.

3. The State Judiciary needs to bridge the gap by setting up magistrate courts at close proximity to Area Commands and Police Stations so that the issue of demanding for bail money and illegal detention can be addressed speedy. #ReformThePoliceNG @segalink

4. The Governor @jidesanwoolu needs to know that his Attorney General as the Chief Law Officer of the State & has powers to takeover all criminal proceedings in the state. #ReformThePoliceNG #SARSMUSTEND #EndPoliceBrutalityinNigeria @falzthebahdguy

The Ministry of Justice can employ a Lawyer per police station, to first review the cases at the police station before it is same charged to court. #SARSMUSTEND #EndPoliceBrutalityinNigeria #ReformThePoliceNG @segalink @falzthebahdguy @davido

and this would serve as a check on the @PoliceNG & the police would cease to dabble into civil matters & Lawyers would not have to be at the mercy of policemen to admit their clients to bail. #SARSMUSTEND #EndPoliceBrutalityinNigeria #ReformThePoliceNG @segalink @falzthebahdguy
