Gen Z is the world’s first global generation. Arguably, they are a generation that no longer is happy with simply “consuming” content, instead they are passionate about “publishing” content.
This means that access to social media and the internet has created in the next generation the ability to publish thoughts, ideas, and dreams in real-time.
The next generation is sharing beliefs and values across borders and oceans and boundaries in such a way that language is no longer a barrier because one language is being spoken and learned by a generation that looks at their screen for AT LEAST 5 hours a day.
What this also means is that this generation no longer wants to come to church, sit, and consume what you say and then go leave the church and publish, rather they want to “publish” what God is saying to them right now.
The business world has gotten this, public school systems have understood this, and even major news outlets have understood that to get people to engage you have to allow them space to “publish.”

The Church, which is arguably built for the consumer, needs to catch up.
