15 years ago, some men, many of them fetishists &crossdressers, demanded to be considered women, lesbians even, on their say so alone, and campaigned without our knowledge or consent to access our single sex spaces, political representation & sports, hence nullifying our rights.
When women noticed and raised concerns, in the way women do: politely, with evidences, empathy and the willingness to compromise, we were shut down, dragged, threatened, defamed, monstered, insulted... some of us got fired, all of us got told to choke on a dick and die in a fire.
But we did not shut up. At great risks for our career, under fire, muddied and bruised we continued to speak up, and be shamed and despised for daring to say the simple fact that being female matters. We wrote thousands of empathetic, evidence based articles, blogs, essays.
We did all this with no money, no funding, no support. Very slowly, timidly and reluctantly the international press started to amplify our voice, and some brave politicians took a stand.

Now that it is impossible to ignore our voice, I am sure some of our former opponents will
come forward with half baked attempts to recognise our concerns and our fears and propose some compromise, in which they'll still get to call themselves women, access our spaces, or speak on our behalf, but "nicely", as self-identified allies.
I want to tell these men and their handmaiden one thing: "It's too late".
If we hadn't raised our voices in a terrifyingly abusive climate, you would have continued to walk all over us.

When we wanted to discuss and compromise but were isolated and powerless, you threatened us.
You showed us what your demands truly were: the annihilation of women's boundaries and of our existence as a distinct sex class in law. You showed us your deep seated misogyny in the most blatant, insulting, degrading way imaginable. And society followed you, agreed with you.
It's too late. We have seen quite enough. We have seen what you are capable of and what you would have continued to do if we had let you.

It's too late. I can not forgive and I can no longer trust. I can no longer compromise.
NB: I did not start to fight 15 years ago. Our lesbian sisters did. I entered this fight only 3 years ago. Sorry, I wasn't clear.
