I was arrested for scamming tonight. No, I'm not a scammer. I'm a copywriter going home after a brainstorming session with Ore Afolayan. They would love to search my phone but it was off. So, they took me away in the squad car to the Ashi Station. My phone was charged & searched.
When we got to the station, an officer took me to his office where my phone was charged & searched. This lasted for about 45mins.When they couldn't find anything scammy on my phone, I was released with a stern lecture from a Police.
My network is terrible rn. I didn't pay tho. But I was kicked & punched while being forced into their car. I could still feel pains in my back. We are protesting for SARS to be scrapped, but they are still out extorting & violating people's rights. This must stop. #SarsMustGoNow
We can't continue to live in fear of getting killed by police. Now, I won't leave my home without planning how to navigate within my city. I will not go out without deleting my chats. I will go out without deleting banking apps to hide money I earned honestly. Sigh.
I remembered when I was forced into the back-sit of a bus with my phones, wallet & keys collected, looking at 5 men raining accusations at me, while demanding me to pay them or I get murdered. What did I do? Nothing. Nothing people of Nigeria.

This is no life.
Everywhere you go, Armed men without uniform or identification are always on the streets ready to shove you into their vehicle like a thief evading arrest so they can drive you to dark corners to extort you by delivering punches & slaps on you. All for being fresh youths.
Tbvh with y'all, we are a far cry from when police forces were there to catch the bad guys. I hope we win the #Endsars battle. Btw, this is the most hurtful experience I had with men of SARS that I remember fondly. All because of an Upwork WhatsApp group https://bit.ly/2FrfA6x
