Earth Federal Forces Army - Infantry Uniforms and Equipment of the One Year War
Since getting into Gundam a few years ago, I've been fascinated by the details of the humble infantryman
The following thread aims to display and categorize the various depictions of the Fed grunt

The EFFA appears to field 4 distinct helmets.
One modelled after the M1 steel pot
Another similar to the PASGT helmet
A custom pot style helmet with a different cut and signature ventilation slits
A fictional helmet with a brim and large bulge around the ears and neck

The M1 style helmet appears throughout MS Era 0099 and MSG Igloo, and likely appears elsewhere as its the simplest to draw or otherwise misidentify, if the intended helmet is lacking detail
The PASGT helmet is clearly featured in 08th MS Team's intro and might make several other appearances in the OVA, though its possible these are simply low detail renderings of another model
MSG 0080: War in the Pocket features a custom pot style helmet with a unique shape and details like its ear flaps and vent slits. Curiously, MS Era also includes this helmet in its depictions of the OVA's events, in addition to the M1s featured elsewhere in the book.
The final variation covered his is a fictional helmet with a brim and ear shroud. This is featured heavily in MSG: The Origin but appears in 08th MS Team and numerous illustrations
Several references pages detailing EFFA infantrymen appear to depict the same fictional helmet but numerous details such as belts, boots and load bearing equipment differs. Some discrepancies may be the result art style but others are clearly different designs.
There appear to be three variations of load bearing webbing
The first has simple, rectangular over the shoulder straps and appears in MS Igloo and its derived depictions, including some toys, though these sport a different helmet.

The second appears in "The Origin" and has rectangular puffer padding over the shoulder straps, material sitting over the shoulder blades, and two parallel straps down the back. There are tan and brown variants.
The third system appears nearly everywhere else and has large, padded shoulder straps that link with the belt like a "V". Two variations exist, one that is all brown and fastens around and over the fatigues and another that has a black belt belt fed through loops in the uniform
The origin has a round belt buckles
The IGLOO/Anti MS squad wear something like an officer's belt with a hexagon buckle
Padded shoulders wears a simple perforated equipment belt
The other rectangular straps have an additional oval on the equipment belt buckle

These illustrations also demonstrate two types of tunic pockets, one external with a button fastener, and the other internal with a slit or zipper opening.
There are also three boots on display, one lace up boot with a flap over upper laces, one worn with gators and one without apparent fasteners (though this could be a consequence of artstyle)
