who can see me without my hijab?
an educating thread.
an educating thread.
first of all, hijab is worn by muslims for modesty and representation of their religion. they’d start wearing it since they hit puberty, as in getting their first periods.
hijabis don’t have to wear the hijab if they aren’t ready yet, and forcing them to wear it is so against the rules of islam.
note:
if someone wants to take off their hijab, or proceeds to take it off, it doesn’t mean they’re any less of a muslim than anybody. it’s their body and their right to take it off if they wanted or not.

let’s get into the topic of who can see a hijabi/niqabi’s hair/face!
A GIRL/WOMAN:
can see me without my hijab, theres no exception from who can see a hijabi’s hair when it comes to women.
BUT that doesn’t mean i’m obligated to show you my hair if you’re a woman.

A BOY/MAN:
there’s only exceptions for men that can see my hair.
AKA my dad, brother, grandfather, uncle, biological son.
my male cousins can’t see my hair because it’s normalized in islam to marry your cousin (

^^there are hijabis that don’t wear their hijab infront of their cousins, but i preferably wear it just because i’ve been wearing it since i was young infront of them.
also that doesn’t mean i must marry my male cousins, it’s just okay to marry them so you cannot show them your hair
NONBINARY PEOPLE:
i’ve done so much research and learned that it depends on the assigned sex at birth of the person.
if their assigned sex at birth is female then they can see my hair, if their assigned sex at birth is male then they cannot see my hair.

TRANS MEN:
they cannot see any hijabi’s hair once they settle fully on their transition. because they’re men just like any other man out there.

TRANS WOMEN:
they can see my hair once they settle fully on their transition. because again, they’re also women like any woman out there.

ADOPTED SON:
this depends on when the boy is adopted. if i adopt him before the age of two and i get to breastfeed him, then he officially becomes my mehram and he can see my hair.
but if he’s adopted after the age of two then he cannot see my hair.

^^ if any hijabi/niqabi gets to adopt a boy, they’ll most likely adopt one before the age of 2, since first, it’s unfair for a child to not be able to see their parent’s face/hair growing up, and they just can’t always cover up 24/7 at home!!
ADOPTED GIRL:
she totally can see my hair since she’s a girl, and any girl can see my hair.

please know that the parts written for trans men and women are written after i did religious research, and i wrote those parts based on the research.
^^ any hijabi’s personal preference can differ when it comes to trans men & women. i personally would be comfortable showing it to a trans person even before the completed their transition, not everyone has all abilities to complete it <3
if you have any questions pls reply with them :)
i forgot to add!!
husbands can see their niqabi/hijabi’s hair/face once they officially get married religiously (katb al kitab) it’s called nikkah in formal arabic and fiancés cannot see our hair :)

hijabi’s can wear their hijab in any way they want to, the official way to wear it is by covering your whole body modestly except for your hands and face (1/2) https://twitter.com/60srogue/status/1316095431164792837
if a hijabi wants to wear their hijab and show a bit of hair then that’s fine!! it’s their choice and their body, and they shouldn’t be judged on the way they wear it.
another point is how they wrap their hijab around their heads then that’s a personal preference and there isn’t an official way to actually wrap it around your head.
adding more !!
if it’s for medical reasons and there’s no way to only have female nurses/doctors then it’s totally fine and neither of the hijabi/niqabi or the doctor are sinned for it!!
mainly in the middle east they take more care about giving the hijabi female doctors/nurses (1/2) https://twitter.com/killmylwt91/status/1316137686336507910

but mostly they tend to ask for only female nurses or doctors!! if there aren’t any then they are allowed to get male doctors :)
SOMETHING I WANTED TO ADD!!
pls notice how i used it in a gender neutral way when i was addressing hijabi’s and do the same!! not all hijabi’s are women :))

no not at all!! women can shave their heads or dye their hair, hijab isn’t just a pirate of clothing on our heads, it’s a representation for our religion as well https://twitter.com/saturnisfalling/status/1316199572759289856
kinda funny but i’m glad you’re asking! we don’t have to wear our hijab at home at all as long as we only have family (mom, dad, brother, siblings) in the house! so as we go back home from a long day we get rid of the hijab and take a breather https://twitter.com/bloompogz/status/1316283307370278913
if you’re not even hijabi you won’t really be sinned yet. but if someone isn’t ready to wear the hijab, atleast they should wear modest clothing to make up for it until they are ready to do so https://twitter.com/strongenoughlou/status/1316298047673036806
their sexual orientation doesn’t matter, if they’re gay women then they can see my hair and if they’re gay men then they still can’t see my hair :) https://twitter.com/capribi/status/1316291551069450241
nope, you can take your hijab off infront of your father, brother, uncles, father in law and only your husband, no other male can see you without your hijab even if you’re married https://twitter.com/_jenni_leigh/status/1316189358324670464
