Judge Barrett: I don't want to be Queen of the World.

Senator Klobuchar: No, really, I often wish I was the benevolent Queen around here to get things done.

We've just summed up the two competing judicial philosophies here.
Senator Klobuchar rehashing the tired "Abraham Lincoln didn't confirm a justice this close to an election."

Ehem. Again. This was a political ploy, not a matter of principle.
Lincoln wanted Salmon Chase, a virulent anti-slavery jurist. This would have been unpopular and his re-election was, at that point, not in question. So he put it off until after, and then immediately rammed him through a lame duck Senate.

Not exactly what dems are insinuating.
Klobuchar: "You would be the polar opposite of Justice Ginsburg."

Me, shouting: THAT IS THE POINT. Ginsburg was my hero for breaking barriers with courage and grace, not because her judicial philosophy was consistently grounded in the rule of law and proper restraint.
Senator Klobuchar, like many others, confused about the difference between individual and civic rights, as well as the difference between a lower court saying "this is how the Supreme Court framed the debate" and a politician saying "felons shouldn't vote as a matter of policy."
Judge Barrett patiently explaining these difference, again, like a great law professor to a 1L.

I hope Americans are watching this hearing. They will learn so much from Judge Barrett.
Klobuchar refers, in derogatory manner, to the "5 Republican appointed justices" as doing a bad thing she doesn't like.

Odd how it is never "4 Democrat appointed justices" voted lock step to do something she does like.
"Senator Klobuchar, if you continue to ask questions about 'superprecedents' that aren't in the list I discuss in the article...everytime you ask the question, I'll keep having to say 'I can't grade it.'" - Judge Barrett, sounding like a tired mom responding to a toddler.
