As of 2020-10-04, # of job openings on JOE for full-time academic jobs in the US is down 64.1% relative to same time in 2019. 2/6
# of job openings on JOE for full-time academic jobs outside the US is down 45.4% relative to same time in 2019. 3/6
# of job openings on JOE for full-time non-academic jobs is down 35.4% relative to same time in 2019. 4/6
Total # of job openings on JOE (all sectors, all locations) is down 43.8% relative to same time in 2019. 5/6
Historically, roughly half of JOE listings for the year have been posted by the 1st week of Oct.
In light of these decreases, our cttee recommends that depts seek ways of supporting PhD job candidates unable to find jobs in 2020-21. 6/6
