I promised to do a post about the concept of #VariableGeometry in Motorsport track design. Here it is:
Here is a normal 180 corner with the red being the optimum racing line (simply highest possible radius within track limits) very clear: one apex and straightforward line.
Now exactly the same corner but with variable geometry track edges. The optimum racing line (biggest radius) has multiple apexes on entry and mid corner. Making it much more tricky to drive and creating much more line opportunities.
I just drafted those. But imagine a whole track deeply simulated with this in mind. It would be mindblowing difficult to drive and, also be able to have much less track limits problems.
This is the future of race track design.
