@austincdoctor and I wrote a post for @PVGlance on the portends of election violence in the US. In short, there are reasons to be worried, but there also reasons to think it won't be widespread/systematic. The link is here: https://politicalviolenceataglance.org/2020/10/13/assessing-the-risk-of-electoral-violence-in-the-united-states/
Since Austin already wrote a great thread summarizing, I won't.

Instead, I just want to say that this is a topic that has kept me up at night. I am so incredibly anxious about this election. Working through this post was in many ways therapeutic.
I want to thank @austincdoctor for the idea to write the post, and bringing me in, and @PVGlance for their great series on violence in elections/the US in general. Dawn Brancati has a great contribution on poll watchers here: https://politicalviolenceataglance.org/2020/10/12/will-poll-watchers-make-the-us-elections-violent/
@PVGlance has been putting out really good work for a really long time. If you don't already subscribe to their newsletter, I encourage you to.

Austin and I link to a ton of articles on EV in our post. Far too many people to tag without leaving a multitude out.
But there are a few who IMO deserve a shoutout- @krishogl, @Fjelde, @smburchard and @pstanpolitics, among others. Many thanks also to those who read a draft, provided comments, and might prefer to remain anonymous.
Additionally, and related to this thread, we're very excited to be co-organizing a workshop for @PeaceScienceSoc annual conference, along with @G_Olafs. We'll be providing some updates on that workshop via twitter while it's ongoing (awful multitasker but I'm going to livetweet!)
