As the future Representative of Wisconsin’s 57th District, I have thing to say about this. Rye resides in my district— a lovely “special occasion” restaurant...

The owners are among many local businesses who adapted strong safety precautions (wooden barriers for outdoor seating) and a robust take-out system.

I know several of the servers and bartenders at Rye who’ve also been struggling to make rent and pay bills as business (and tips) have declined.

Appleton, WI is #3 in the nation for greatest number of cases relative to population. @GovEvers mask mandate and restrictions on gatherings are at the mercy of compliance and enforcement by local municipalities.

That @IvankaTrump was eating indoors, in close proximity to others in the nation’s COVID hotspot does not suprise me. It does disgust me. I am glad Rye and Daniel ( lovely man, motorcycle enthusiast) benefited from her money. However...

I wish the First Daughter and her entourage had places a take-out order. I wish they had eaten in the road or in their hotel ( connected to the restaurant) to spare service industry workers like Daniel from potential risk.

While her father, @realDonaldTrump routinely dismissed the concerns of independent restaurant lobbyists and service industry workers, declares war on tipped workers, and fails to provide adequate relief via the CARES Act, the dictator’s daughter smiles and fills her belly.

While her father benefitted from the best socialized medicine in the world when he contracted COVID, people like Daniel, are not even insured—or have a high deductible HSA that is virtually meaningless at $7.25/hour— Wisconsin’s paltry minimum wage.
