I generally stay away from unnecessary personal fights that happen on Twitter as I find it distractive, unproductive, childish and futile, but lately, I have observed that a few accounts are casually calling the whole IMT vicious, paid and whatnot. (1/9)
Someone went one step ahead and even claimed that it is against the idea of secular India. The idea of secular India has been destroyed many times in the past, without the internet. The responsibility to maintain secularism FIRST falls on the shoulders of the State. (2/9)
Coming up with defamatory and false claims may help you win a petty Twitter fight and probably a few followers, but others may end up paying a hefty price for it. Trading lies for brownie points is beneath contempt. (3/9)
The practice of blaming Muslims on Twitter which we also call the IMT (Indian Muslim Twitter), just because you have a problem with certain accounts, is terrible and shouldn’t be normalized. (4/9)
Name-calling is indeed a bad exercise, but not everything falls under name calling or carries dangerous consequences. In the atmosphere of Islamophobia, labelling Muslims as musanghi, radical, ISI agent or extremist for having a different political opinion is pathetic & mean(5/9)
Your slanderous, unverified claims echo in the Indian RW circle and put people on the radar and under the threat of doxxing, followed by harassment/bullying, which is not limited to themselves, but also puts their family’s safety on the line. (6/9)
Of course, there are some fitna trolls. They are vile, toxic, and should be called out in no uncertain terms BUT does that give you an agency to defame the whole IMT? Certainly not. (7/9)
IMT is not about a few accounts, but all, ALL of us who are struggling to breathe in this environment of hate. Don’t make it more terrible for your own people because of your political affiliations, personal grudges or benefits. (8/9)
Stop attacking and hating each other.
And the sooner we ALL realise that infightings are not going to help anyone here, the better it is for us.

IMT was, is and will always be love. <3 (9/9)
