Please have some serious words with the Development & Alumni Office (for outsiders: this is one of our many areas of administrative bloat sucking money away from teaching, smaller class sizes, better learning conditions, engagement, & students) & to your VP Students.

(for outsiders: yes, VPs would indeed appear to be like VPs elsewhere; part of another layer of administrative bloat, organisational CEO-ification, restructuring with vertical hierarchies imported/invading from the world of commerce and “enterprise” and “industry)
(this is what we’re talking about when referring to “the neoliberal (pseudo-)university” and its corruption; these things aren’t an intrinsic or essential or necessary part of it, they’re a recent “innovation” albeit part of a long history of colonialism and of the capitalocene)
