Successfully voted! Thankfully only took an hour. Here are some tips I learned from my experience for all of you headed to the polls. #TurnTexasBlue

.) Wear your mask and bring hand sanitizer. They weren't requiring folks to wear masks and some of the workers weren't.
.) Bring your voter registration card if possible. As someone who moves a lot, my address on my license doesn't match the one on my registration card. This has never been an issue but it was today. So be prepared.
.) Get there early. The place I went to was the nearest poll for two counties. There ended up being separate lines for each county and folks didn't find out until they got to the front. This wasn't an accident, but if it happens to you. Don't leave, be patient your vote counts.
.) Be sure your ballot was counted before walking away. After completing your ballot you need to feed it into this machine from 1920. 🙄 Be patient and be sure your ballot is successfully read and counted before walking away.
.) Spread the word. Message family and friends and remind them to vote and get there early. Some folks like to wait until the middle of the week or later but things are different this time around and wait times will be longer no matter when you go.
.) Don't talk to anyone. Especially if you're a minority, especially if you're Black. There are some folks there that are trying to get a rise out of you and being belligerent. Ignore them and do what you came there for. They'll get theirs later when we #TurnTexasBlue
.) Lastly, be respectful but firm. The people working the polls are not unbiased. They were trying to turn folks away for all kinds of reasons where I was. They tried to say they couldn't take my registration card. Don't fall for that, do research beforehand and be kind but firm
