HOW IT STARTED. HOW IT'S GOING!
A Thread.
As an artist, often times you can feel like you are not making the money to justify all the work. I just want to show other artist that it's possible to make an income with your art.
In 2016, I started my website and only gained $850 in print sales for the whole year. I told myself I just wanted to double my profit each year going forward.
In 2017, I more than doubled and made over 11k in print sales. I was super excited and this was the year I decided to become a full time artist. I knew I had potential to make more money and support my self with just art.
In 2018, I did over 38k in print sales. I was actually shocked at the time that that I was able to make that much. I
In 2019. I did 80k in print sales and I was really in disbelief. I honestly didn't think I could double front the previous year.
And now in 2020 I already hit 200k!! This goes to show that you can definitely turn your passion into your career. And I know you're wondering how did you do it??
Honestly, most of my marketing was through social media, primarily Instagram. I built my following and constantly worked on new paintings to keep my buzz going.
I created a website through big cartel and I continued to push my website every chance I got.
And this whole time I painted out of my small apartment bedroom. No need for big studio spaces. Just work with what you have.
