Since I can’t shut up about #kacchako for two seconds here’s a thread based on @telluric_cry’s tweet. It got me thinking and now I have to talk about it

Alright, so, we all know that Uraraka has a crush on Deku, right? Maybe??

Well this panel makes me question it a little...

Toga says here, “And you’re thinking you wanna be just like him.” & Uraraka thinks to when she was fighting Bakugou & thought she wanted to win like Deku

Now, I’m not saying she DOESN’T have a crush on Deku, but it’s curious to me why Hori chose the moment when she was fighting Bakugou to bring up when Toga was talking about “And you’re thinking you wanna be just like him.”

As we’ve seen, Uraraka wants to be more like Bakugou

Think about it, she took up on combat because she wanted to be stronger after her fight with Bakugou and because she knows he’s good in combat so she wants to be better if she has to face another opponent like him

In Smash, Bakugou even recommends her to improve on her combat skills, and she took him up on it: Joining Gunhead’s hero agency for her internship. Side note: He worries about her too “You can also be careless, so improve on that.” My heart, y’all...

But the biggest thing that makes me question Uraraka’s crush on Deku AND question who Toga was talking about when saying “And you’re thinking you wanna be just like him.” was from the fourth light novel

And before anyone says anything, yes, the light novels are canon

In the light novel, the girls are having a fun time and talking about boys in their class.

Boyfriend material included

In the first part of the pic, they’re talking about who they would want for boyfriends, and of course Deku was brought up, but here’s the thing...

Uraraka denies Deku when talking about boyfriend material and instead SUGGESTS HERSELF “How about Bakugou?”

Meaning she thought about him in the boyfriend light! Again, Hori isn’t hiding ANYTHING from us

The girls continue and ask who out of all the boys in class 1-A would they want to be for a day?

THIS is where I question Uraraka’s crush on Deku.

“One particular boy popped into Uraraka’s head.”

You would think she would mean Deku, right?

Right??

Her crush???

Well we’re all wrong

Uraraka DOESN’T choose her crush

She instead chooses BAKUGOU

“I’d wanna be Bakugou for a day.”

Again, bringing light to Toga’s words: “You’re thinking about how you want to be just like him.”

Uraraka wants to be Bakugou for a day and wants to be stronger like him — the improving on combat.

When Jiro asks, “Eh, him? Really?”Uraraka only smiles and blushes

What does THAT tell you?

The girl may verbally say that she has a crush on Deku, but with this and Toga’s words to mix, it makes me wonder who Uraraka TRULY holds feelings for

I also want to point out a recent crumb from the manga that drives my point:

Uraraka thinks back to when Bakugou was kidnapped. Why that and two other traumatic events that were not centered around Deku, her crush?

She could have thought back to the Chisaki incident (that was centered around Deku) and was also very traumatic.

... But she didn’t

She thought back to Bakugou and his kidnapping by the League of Villains, when the League first appeared, and when All Might lost his power.

The girl may not realize it, but she’s slowly interacting more with Bakugou and thinking more about him

It’s like in the newest light novel and Ochako’s story: She talks (borderline affectionately like a girlfriend would about her boyfriend ) about Bakugou. She never ONCE mentions Deku in her conversation to the little boy.

Suspicious since Deku is her crush

Even her MOTHER in the story seems to pick up on this

After Uraraka is through talking about Bakugou and all his good qualities and what makes him /him/, her mother most likely heard her talking about Bakugou

After Uraraka tells her neighbors about her school assignment, her mom noticed her daughter thinking about something.

She was innocently thinking about what Deku was going to write about for his assignment. I find it funny because she thinks he’ll probably write about All Might

Her mother asks her what’s wrong, to which Uraraka says nothing, and then her mother says, “It’s good to focus on your studies, but don’t you have anyone you like?”

MAMA URARAKA KNOWS WHAT’S UP

Why would she ask that??

Uraraka hasn’t told her parents ANYTHING about her crush on Deku, so her mother MUST have overheard her daughter talking about Bakugou and she thinks Uraraka likes him romantically, so that’s why she asks her daughter if she has anyone she likes

Mama Uraraka is a real one — so perceptive of her daughter and putting two and two together

I head canon that eventually, if Uraraka mother see’s Bakugou and her daughter and him happen to EVER interact in front of her, she’s going to be like “She likes him.”

This light novel basically confirmed that she already thinks what I head canon

So after all this, it makes you question if Uraraka truly has a crush on Deku as the series has been progressing

It’s apparent that Uraraka is thinking more and more about Bakugou and the statement that Toga says, “And you’re thinking you wanna be just like him.”

I truly think that it’s not going to happen now, but later on Uraraka is going to come to terms with her feelings and realize that it was Bakugou all along who she’s liked — ever since the Sports Festival and their fight
