The Dept of Homeland Security (DHS) recently proposed eliminating the current “duration of status” guidelines that allow int'l students studying in the US on certain visas to remain in the country for as long as they maintain compliance with their terms of admission.1/
The proposed rule change would replace the duration of status term limit with arbitrary and restrictive 2- & 4-year limits, depending on one’s country of origin. If adopted, this proposed rule will severely impact the physics community, which is why we are taking action.2/
APS recently submitted a public comment on the rule change, which can be read below. As you’ll see, there are many problems with this proposed rule, including its potential to discourage talented students from studying in the United States.3/

We want to delay the implementation of this rule for as long as possible & to do that we need APS members to submit as many unique comments as possible to DHS. Write YOUR comment thru our easy-to-use action center. We even prompt you on what to write!4/4 https://p2a.co/AXj9Ptc
