Let they who are unproblematic post the first call-out
You, personally, will fuck up at some point. You probably already have. Fuck up huge. We’re human, all of us. We are not angelic paragons of virtue.
Stop saying you give a shit about restorative justice if your response to someone fucking up huge is to want them dead
If you don’t believe that people who’ve done genuinely terrible things have the capacity to learn and grow and do better, you have abandoned any pretense of belief that social justice movements can succeed at their goals
You stare into your fucking portable hellbox and wish death on someone for a sin far less grievous than the violent acts you would state, if asked, in no way deserve the death penalty. But they transgressed against the sacred code and must be put down, right?
American “social justice” online does not consist of efforts or actions that make marginalized lives any safer. It is primarily a feeding frenzy of rage at whoever the latest target is, enacted with religious fervor. Fundamentalism of any ideology is horrific.
And it’s easy to get swept up into it when staring into your portable hellbox. I’ve certainly been taken by these storms before.
