Why Ole Gunnar Solskjær is not good enough to be the manager of Manchester United.

-A thread.
I will begin this thread mentioning his poor managerial record prior to his appointment at United, to show why he never should have been appointed.
On January 2nd 2014 OGS became the manager of Cardiff City, who were 17th in the league at the time.

His predecessor, Malky Mackay, had a win rate of 43.2%.

OGS was tasked with overseeing the club evade relegation, retaining their position out of the relegation zone.
After a 3-0 loss to Newcastle United, Cardiff City were officially relegated to the championship, and finished 20th in the table, 3 positions below where the club was prior to OGS's appointment.

After the January and Summer window, he signed 17 players.
On 18th September 2014 OGS departed Cardiff City, 9 months after becoming manager, leaving Cardiff City 17th in the Championship.

OGS had a win rate of 30% at Cardiff City.

His successor, Russel Slade, surpassed this with a 39.22% win rate.
Here are the respective CVs of Malky Mackay and Russel Slade.

Both have unimpressive CVs.

The fact that these managers managed to outperform OGS at that club, being the respective predecessor and successor of him is further testament to OGS's incompetence.
OGS's Cardiff City tenure summed up:

-Inherited them 17th in the EPL
-Took them to 20th in the league
-Left them 17th in the Championship after only 9 months at the club despite signing 17 players
-Was out performed by his predecessor and successor.

A colossal disaster.
Molde:

On 21st October 2015, OGS returned to Molde, over a year since his horror show at Cardiff City.

He was at Molde until 19th December 2018, and was therefore at the club for slightly more than 3 years.

Despite this, he failed to win a trophy at a club expected to do so.
After OGS's departure from Molde, he was succeeded by Erling Moe, who managed to win the Eliteserien in his first season at the club, something OGS failed to do in 3 years at the club.

Yet another manager not highly regarded that has outperformed OGS.
The Eliteserien is a league rated lower than the second division in France. OGS's failure to win a trophy in 3 years at a club that is expected to win titles there is disappointing and something that has not been mentioned enough.
Despite such a poor record, OGS became the interim manager of Manchester United on the 19th of December 2018. After a few months of good results under his management, he became appointed permanent manager on the 28th of March 2019.

What did his Manchester United side do then?
- Get knocked out of the FA cup and UCL quarter finals
- Fail to get top 4 because he was unable to defeat already relegated Cardiff City and Huddersfield Town
- Go on the club's worst run of form since 1937
In the summer of 2019, the club signed three players.

£15 million on number 21
£50 million on AWB
£80 million on Harry Maguire.

A quantity of signings deemed acceptable by OGS himself. https://twitter.com/i/status/1306449908275253249
What did these signings, and OGS being given a full season lead to?

-33 points off the league
-knocked out of FA cup, League cup and EL semi finals
-66 points, same amount LVG got in the season he was sacked, and the same amount United got in 2018/19

This is not improvement.
Despite this, OGS retained his position of manager of Manchester United.

At the start of the 2019/20 season, his side lost to Crystal Palace 3-1 at home and oversaw a 6-1 humiliation at home to Tottenham Hotspur.

An absolute pathetic start that is not excusable.
Manchester United conceded 11 goals in the first three EPL games this season.

The last time Manchester United did this, Adolf Hitler was alive.

This happened despite OGS spending £130 million on defensive reinforcements the previous summer.

This is not good enough.
Debunking myths; what OGS has been praised for which he should not be praised for:

"Look what Ole did with Fred! he's clearly improved him".

OGS did not improve Fred, if you watched Fred at Shakhtar Donestk you would know Fred has not fulfilled his true potential.
OGS showed little intention of playing Fred, exhibited by his lack of games played in the 2018/19 season.

Fred only got a run of games because Pogba and Matic were injured.

If United kept Herrera, who OGS wanted to keep, Fred would have probably been written off as a flop.
Fred came into form because he got a run of games and because he learnt he must take less touches on the ball, which is something anyone would learn with a reasonable amount of intrinsic intelligence after being dispossessed several times, like Fred was vs Newcastle United.
"Ole has cleared the deadwood".

Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, Chris Smalling and Ander Herrera (all of which who left on their own accord but that's a discussion for another time) have all performed for their new clubs, showing they are better than some of our current players.
OGS was manager when the following players received contract extensions:

-Phil Jones
-Juan Mata
-Andreas Periera
-Brandon Williams

He has also signed number 21, arguably our worst player, and AWB, adding to the list of deadwood, not to mention Ighalo and extended his loan.
"OGS is playing the United way"

Whatever this "way" is, it is crap, we consistently play crap on a weekly basis, getting outplayed by the likes of Copenhagen, Club Brugge, Az Alkmaar, Norwich City, Huddersfield Town, etc.

It is clear to see OGS does not coach positional play.
"SAF was given time, OGS needs time".

SAF took over in a time in which he needed to clear out the whole squad and fix the drinking culture and took us to second in his first full season.

SAF also had a CV good enough to manage United, which warranted him getting time.
"We can't keep sacking managers".

Yes we can, we have, and we will if they underperform.

Why did we sack Ron Atkinson for SAF then?

If you underperform, you should be replaced by a better option.
