PSA for anyone with a daughter, sister, friend, daughter-in law, cousin, son, brother, etc struggling with infertility (a thread): PLEASE STOP WITH THE TOXIC POSITIVITY! It& #39;s dismissive & hurtful. Lend a shoulder to cry on, offer to listen, but please don& #39;t say things like..(1/5)
"Everything happens for a reason"
"You& #39;re much stronger than me"
"Attitude is everything!"
"Two weeks? That will fly by!"
"Don& #39;t let this consume you"
"It will all be worth it in the end"
"Try not to think about it"
"It will happen when you least expect it" (2/5)
First off, the "everything happens for a reason" line makes my blood boil.

Did I somehow deserve this journey because of something I did? NO. Is it comforting? NO. Will it make me feel optimistic? NO.

Be mindful when you know someone is hurting or struggling. (3/5)
Stop the "positivity word vomit" because YOU feel uncomfortable or are unsure what to say. Not sure what to say? DON& #39;T SAY ANYTHING. Just listen.

Or, say things like "I& #39;m here for you", "you& #39;re not alone".

It can make a world of a difference. (4/5)
This thread isn& #39;t meant to bash anyone, I just want to spread awareness. I& #39;m personally TIRED & DRAINED trying to make everyone around me feel more comfortable about MY journey.

Please do better https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="❤️" title="Rotes Herz" aria-label="Emoji: Rotes Herz">
