The complete destruction of Rotterdam in WWII on 14 May 1940, sometimes called the Rotterdam Blitz. Fascists destroyed the city in order to show that they would burn the Netherlands to the ground if it did not surrender. 900 Rotterdam citizens died in one day.

Charlotte Salomon (1917-43) was a German-Jewish artist from Berlin. Her series of works, painted in France, whilst hiding from the Nazis is profound & important. She was murdered, along with her unborn child, in the gas chambers of Auschwitz on 10 October 1943.
In WWII Fascists murdered some 6 million Jews. 50-56 million died in WWII, a war started by Fascism with the democracies of the West. 5,000 Irish men died fighting against Fascism, including my elderly friend’s best mate as they landed on the beaches. Fascism is death, violence & evil. It is a crime against humanity.
