Prof Finglass& #39;s admonishment – for @BMCReview
– of the support given to a PhD student on Sophocles was even-handed and kind. The angry below-line comment from the current academic director is hilarious. Funnier still: he has since included rant on his list of publications.
I bring this up because I am currently grappling with writing a review on a German PhD thesis. I feel sorry for the buggers. This forced publication in a world of rapid international reviews does no one any favours.
Personally, I& #39;m glad my own thesis is buried away in the UL (not even listed on Ethos) and unread, to be partially recycled when necessary. I really wish sometimes the same were true of German PhD monographs. Sure it goes on the CV, but to what end?
Based on the good Direktor& #39;s logic, can I now add this thread to my publication list?
