It’s crazy going from an environment where u have to be hyper aware of everything to keep yourself safe and then slowly unlearning that as u enter a safer environment
But then ur instincts kick in randomly and your body goes back in to survival mode
I used to joke that my fight or flight is always fight but now it’s jarring to click back in to fight mode and have to assess the situation appropriately
Cuz before I didn’t have to assess anything n just go in to protection mode n just automatically make an appropriate decision
That internal battle can become overwhelming for me bc my body is doing something my mind is telling me not to and if it gets too overwhelming I’ll feel like I’m gonna pass out lmao
So I wouldn’t say I’ve unlearned hyper awareness I’ve just learned how to switch it off but that switch trips sometimes and I haven’t learned how to deal with that properly or to my advantage yet. I developed in to second guessing myself either to my benefit or detriment
