For anyone wanting my opinion on the story pertaining to the Trickbot story I give you figure A: https://twitter.com/nicoleperlroth/status/1315721638336294912
This story of the trickbot botnet being taken down because it was endangering election infrastructure security is not only extremely poor reporting, but it should be used as an example of how cyber security topics can be abused to push nonexistent or political agendas
This is a reminder for any cyber security person who gets pushed by journalists to try to spin a story for clicks that it is ok to tell them no.

Correct them.

Stand by your correction.

This botnet is in no way a direct threat to any election system. Period.
Also for record I do not agree with how the story was broadcasted.

The disruption of the botnet is indeed a great feat, however the proposal that it was in anyway major cyber security news, that simply isn't the case.
To summarize:

Researchers and the teams involved in the disruption of the botnet: hats off to you, #respect you all did great jobs. Please continue doing awesome things.

Reporters and ppl attempting to spin this as an election security story: Shame on you for fear mongering.
