For POSTERITY, here is a thread of what transpired from my experience in securing the release of those arrested yesterday at #SURULEREPROTEST.

I arrived in the evening to the Area C Station, to secure the unconditional release of protesters, which includes:

1. Chiamaka Treasure Nduka
2. Ademola Ojabodu
3. Felicia Okpara

On arrival, I was not granted entry into the Command - also with me was Barr. Sylvester. I approached the family of Treasure & discovered she was asthmatic from her mum.

Two Police Officers at the Command Gate stated that no protester was with them. On presenting them with video evidence, they later admitted to having them. Unknown to us, 6 people were in custody and 1 person was at Panti - we finally discovered this.

We then approached the command gate and asked that her mum gets her inhaler to her. To no surprise, the Officers at the gate, including a female officer requested 10k (Naira) from Treasure's family to get inhaler to her.

We got infuriated and so we made calls

I called @NigBarAssoc President @OlumideAkpata & AG (Lagos) to help reach out to the CP.

Treasure's mum called Pastor Ituah who tried reaching Deputy Governor, ors.

@CharlieofLagos called Rt. Hon. @femigbaja.

Calls went back and forth to different quarters.

Whilst this was on going, more concerned Nigerians started converging. There and then, fake news started on social media that they had been released. But some persons here volunteered to debunk them.

Then we saw Hon. Desmond Elliot drive into the Police Command

On sighting Hon. Elliot, I called his number. He later called back to assure he was discussing with the Area Commander on instructions from @femigbaja and CP.

He later came to request that Treasure's mum and myself come with him to approach the Area Commander

@CharlieofLagos joined us inside.

Whilst we were inside, we realised that there were 6 'protesters' lockedup inside the Command. The Command cooperated and asked for persons to stand as sureties. We got volunteers from outside to stand for those without any family member.

They were released. However, they looked badly beaten & molested.
- with many injured, bartered and beaten. One of the ladies admitted she was beaten by a female police officer besides molestation by the male officers who had slices of them with hands and guns.

In addition, we learned Ojahbee ( @ojahbee) was moved from anti-kidnapping unit to Panti. This was around 9PM+.

Immediately, Hon. Elliot tried to liase between the CP and Speaker to get Ojahbee out. It seemed difficult considering trumped up possibilities of murder charges

10👇
Finally, Hon. @HONAjaniowolabi went over to Panti and successfully secured @ojahbee. Although he was badly bruised, thank God it was over, we thought.

Until around 12AM midnight, when we gathered that a protester, one Ayinde Ayorinde was hidden in Prison.

Painfully, one of those rescued from prison, stated that Ayorinde had his teeth crushed. An officer put his head on the ground & stepped on it.

According to the eye witness, Ayorinde is badly injured & seemed without help. Spoken to @NigBarAssoc about it
