Let's keep it real : A THREAD
I will not tell you who to vote for, but I do encourage you to vote.
I'll talk shit about any and all candidates and electeds, no matter what their party affliction, because no one is above criticism (especially when they do dumb shit).
If neolib bitches are worried about life imitating "The Handmaid's Tale", then maybe they should have spent the last decade exercising their 2nd Amendment Right and made our government afraid of them.
Party Loyalists are one of the worst things to happen to the US. There is something seriously fucked up when someone is so blinded by party affliction that they can't even see someone as a fellow countryman with a difference of opinion.
Enablers of systematic oppression literally have self-worth issues to address because in all honesty, feigning superiority over minority groups isn't fooling anybody.
There is no such thing as a perfect ally because all allies have blind spots -- And to me, speaking as a neurodivergent woman from a low-income family, I find it more admirable to admit to shortcomings that to "play perfect".
I shouldn't have to justify my opinion by listing what minority groups I belong to. Can we stop judging people based on what minority groups they associate with and instead judge people based on the content of their character and their intentions?
Just because I mentioned what minority groups I identify with doesn't mean I speak for all members of those groups. Stop turning people into monoliths.
Just because someone shares an identity with you doesn't mean they'll be representing your best interests.
When we live in the wealthiest nation on the planet, human rights shouldn't be on the brink of being violated every 4 years.
Science should never ever be politicized.
Fuck rich people who make their wealth off of exploited Americans and then avoid paying taxes. It's unpatriotic they don't put "their" money back in those communities.
Most people, especially leftists, are just trying to do their fucking best and we all have our own ideas about how to make our nation better. Can we acknowledge that and have good faith conversations instead of being total dipshits to each other?
I've said it before and I'm gonna say it again, just because it's 1984 doesn't mean you get to be the Thought Police.
Be comfortable with differences of opinion. I swear, it's okay. You'll live and it'll be better for your mental health.
No one is perfect. Not even you and definitely not me. All of us will fall short of someone's ideal and others will fall short of our own, but that doesn't make anyone worthless or a lost cause.
Unlearning systematic oppression doesn't happen after one Facebook argument or a "cancelling", but always plant seeds and understand that it might take years for it to grow or it might never bloom.
As Michael Brooks said: "Be hard on systems. Be soft on people."
