So this is a great thread on podcast transcripts but it’s put it back on the front burner an issue I’ve been pondering regarding how Caribbean Podcasters should treat transcripts. https://twitter.com/buzzsprout/status/1315846640364908544
Clearly @CarryOnFriends & other podcasts use Patois or any variation of Caribbean Creole. There are some great transcription tools but it takes longer to review & clean up becuz they’re not equipped to transcribe Caribbean vernacular or decipher heavy accents.
The question is - Do I (& other Caribbean Podcasters) transcribe everything in English when speaking Jamaican Patois/Caribbean Creole?
Clearly English only is good for the heating impaired, none Caribbean audience and of course SEO. But to leave out the language for native speakers or people who understand and appreciate - doesn’t feel right.
Is there a format on how to “sub-title” in transcripts?
