Serious question for people who argue that AO3 should remove offensive content: considering the breadth of fic posted there, how do you intend to accomplish this?

I don't know precisely how much fic is on the Archive, but it's gotta be several million right? And a not insignificant chunk of that is longform, i.e. 20k+ How many people would you need to hire to comb through all of that?

In fandom tags that move slowly, it might be possible. But the ones that add several hundred fics per week? The moderators would be drowning.

And if we take, for example, a racist fic that was discussed recently - the Richard I one - that fic is 60k and has six chapters. The Richard I section comes up in 3. That's a full day's worth of reading!

And also, if you don't have the historical/cultural context for that passage, you might not even know what the fic is saying. You never know what you're looking for until you find it, and unless you get a lucky mod + fic match, you might not find it at all!

Again, I'm asking all this sincerely. I don't intend this thread to be a "CHECKMATE, SJWS!" type of thing. Anti-racism needs to be actively worked into AO3 and the OTW. I just haven't seen anyone explain *how*.
