Why you need to vote in this election, as explained by American Idol Season 5
I'm going to take you back to the year 2006, when American Idol was still one of the most popular shows on TV. One of the most popular contestants on this season was Chris Daughtry, who was a salt of the earth guy
Not only was Chris just a good dude, people loved him because he wasn't just another cookie-cutter pop singer on American Idol. He sang rock songs, and he sang them WELL.
The judges loved him.
Yes, even Simon, who, in fact, didn't really like him to begin with. But Chris eventually won over Simon, obviously!!
Chris delivered week after week, and I truly think he brought a new audience to American Idol because he was the show's first (and maybe even only) real "rocker"
So, obviously, Chris makes it to the quarterfinals along with Katharine McPhee, Elliott Yamin, and Taylor Hicks.

This will be a cake walk for Chris against these wannabes. He's not losing. Or so we thought ...
Elimination night comes, and Taylor and Elliott are the first two deemed safe.
Then, it was between Chris and Katharine McPhee, who, fine, is a good singer, but honestly so is literally 40% of American high school students. There was nothing that stood out about her. In fact, now we know she was a Trump supporter all along (ty, @Queerty)!!
But I digress ... Anyway, the entirety of America was SHOCKED when the results were read.
I love how Ryan Seacrest pretty much said "fuck you america for not voting" in his own way by saying "BASED ON YOUR VOTES"
American Idol EP Ken Warwick said it best: "I think that was a classic case of people thinking, 'He's fine, he's OK, let's vote for someone else.'"
So, the moral of this story is, YOUR VOTE MATTERS. If you honestly think "oh, enough people will know not to vote for a megalomaniac and will vote for Biden-Harris instead, so I don't really need to vote lol!" YOU ARE WRONG, MY FRIEND.
As we saw on American Idol in 06, your vote matters, and you cannot rely on the votes of others (for a similar story, see: election 2020 clinton v. trump).
