In defense of Rayla, a thread:

Here are some of my thoughts after reading through the moon and analizing Rayla's decitions and actions.
#TheDragonPrince #thesagaiscoming #TTM #Rayla #Rayllum #tdp
Im not gonna say that the way she lied to Callum and left was okay, she caused him pain and the trust they once build is broken after this.
I wanna understand why she acted like that and see things from her perspective
Since the begginin of the novel we can see that she is in pain and her mind keeps torturing her with nightmares.
She is afraid of losing the only people she has left.
Everyone wanna move on and call the mission of stopping Viren a success, but she has the feeling that something is very wrong (and we all know she is right)
She is afraid and feels like her mission is not over.
Callum does everything he can to help her, he just wants her to be okay and move on. He wanna give her the clousure she needs...and yet when they do the ritual all she gets is more reasons to believe there is something really wrong happening
And not only that, she has to see how he puts his life in danger for her one more time.
And then she realizes that she cant stop him, he is going to jump to save her everytime and her biggest fear is that one of those times he is not gonna survive.
She cant lose him like that, she has a protective instinct and wanna keep everyone safe, specially the one she loves the most
So she choses to go and end the mission alone.
She has the mindset of a soilder.
She is ready to sacrifice her happiness and her life.
And Callum knows that, he loves her for that. Remember that speech on the midnight dessert. He knows her so well and I think he will understand her decition eventually.
Of course he is hurt, and has all the right to be. This is not something they are gonna fix easily and be back to be happy together.
They both very young and even tho they are mature they still need to grow and learn to be better.
I uderstand her decition and hope she gets the clousure and achieves her goal, she is a hero and I love her for that.
