So who’s ready for a rant about accessibility and Super Mario Paint? I didn’t think this was possible, but here we are.

So earlier today I decided to mess around with Super Mario Paint off stream and needed on how to open my saved songs. (a thread)
So I message someone who showed up to yesterday’s SMP stream who knew what they was doing. They said there should be a button at the bottom of the tab, so I sent them a screenshot and they said to move the tab from the top to reach it.

Here’s what I could see...
I couldn’t do that because I couldn’t reach the top of the tab and figured it was due to my accessibility stuff being turned on (I’m severely visually impaired so my scaling was set to 150%, the default is 125%).
Well turns out because of the scaling that I need in order to see. I couldn’t reach the top or bottom of the screen and missed out on a bunch of options at the bottom of the tab, like being able to open songs I’ve saved.
I try different solutions. I try custom scaling, which required me to sign out in order for the changes to take effect. I try 130%, 140%, 145% and 148% (signing in and out each time), only to find out that everything was scaling fine, EXCEPT SUPER MARIO PAINT!!!
So the dude on Discord suggests that maybe I can change the settings based on the app. I looked and there’s an options.

BUT. Because SMP is an “Executable Jar File” (whatever the hell that is), I couldn’t customise the setting for it.

Needless to say I’m livid
So my options are.

1) Change the scaling from 150% to 125% and back again every time I want to return to a saved song

2) Keep the scaling to 125% and not be able to see

3) Keep the scaling at 150% and just finish songs in one sitting
4) Get a second monitor that’s either big enough for me to see what I’m doing at 125% scaling, or one that fits what I need at 150% scaling, like a portrait monitor or one that higher vertically.

Never thought Super Mario Paint would screw me over. This needs to be fixed.
