I've seen lots of tweets today of online protesters feeling overwhelmed by the flood of information but also feeling like they can't afford to step away since we aren't directly in the line of action. It's a very valid feeling.
Please remember that what you're doing is a lot. You're absorbing all of this information, from different places at once, seeing all this happening, processing it, sharing it. It is heavy. Give yourself permission to feel its weight.
Take pauses. Give yourself a 5/10/15 minute break. Shut down, recharge and reset and come back ready to continue. You are a big part of the reason that the world is engaging so strongly with what is happening.
If you need to cry, vent, yell, pray - do it. Your feelings are valid. Give yourself space to grieve and feel all that is happening and then come back and continue standing for people who are on the ground.
I don't know what tomorrow will be like, but we must all be able to be present. That means we must recognise when we are overloading and take steps to deal with it.Time your pauses, shut down till your alarm goes off and come back. We're all in this together. 🇳🇬✊🏾
