'pag may artistang lumahok sa pulitika, wag na nating purihin' why?! in the philippines, mainstream celebrities have the widest platforms yet these are rarely used out of fear that they lose their bankability. when a celebrity does
speak out, especially one dismissed as 'puro ganda lang' it takes courage that should be celebrated. it should be called out to bring attention to the issue they are speaking up on. a tweet from an activist goes viral, and yet when a celebrity tweets on the same issue, it's
suddenly tiring?? what is so different between a celebrity and an activist anyway?! what is the point of being a celebrity, a public figure if they do not use their voice to speak up on important issues? does making art to express ever valid, when one cannot express their
sentiments on public public issues, amplifying the voices of the masses in the process?! what is the difference between an activist/activist-artist and I mainstream celebrity anyway? does being mainstream make a celebrity less filipino, the truth of which they speak less valid?!
and you wonder why mass media in this country, the media the masses consume are thought to be baduy, less than the art so called 'connoisseurs' make and appreciate. art, and artists for the masses are blatantly being discriminated against. in freaking 2020!!!!
