While we continue our discourse about Mental Health...let's remember the new mom's going through Postpartum Depression. I used to judge women who abandoned their newborn until I was faced with a similar desire. My first 6 to 8 weeks postpartum, I cried a lot, confidence was gone
I felt ugly, lost, because I had no idea what the hell I was doing. No one around me knew, neither did I seek help. I kept it all inside...Until, a few months later, my sistren @DebbieBissoon was shooting a special about motherhood.
I poured my heart and soul out...like there was this great release...let me tell you, I can attest to the fact that there is healing in sharing. After that shoot I felt light, I no longer carried that burden.
I wish there could be more emphasis on postpartum depression during prenatal visits...what are the signs, where to get help. A lot of new mommies are suffering in silence.
