Earlier this year I decided to re-work my golf swing. Ground up overhaul. I felt like I had stalled in the 11-16 handicap range. I tended to get steep and flippy and wasn't consistent.
When I first started this process I had 3 rounds in a row where I shot 102 - 102 - 106. It was miserable and frankly completely crushing any morale I had. But I leaned in and said that I was going to fully commit to the rebuild.
I started with the @tourstriker PlaneMate ( @davidwoodspga) and it has dramatically improved my swing plane, low point consistency, and ballstriking. Shout out to @MyGolfSpy and the forums for pointing me in that direction.
Then I started getting into course strategy. I started digging into DECADE and learning from @scottfawcett and @LouStagner. I started making smarter decisions and picking better targets. I better understood what my expectations should be.
I told Lou a few weeks ago that goal #1 was to break 80 again. Goal #2 was to get into a single digit handicap. Goal #3 is to shoot even par or better (on 9 first, then 18).

Saturday I shot a career low 77 (+5). My tending handicap is 8.9 over my last 11 rounds.
0% chance I was going to shoot a 77 without committing to making changes and getting better. I owe all those folks I mentioned a debt of gratitude for helping me get there - but this is practicing what you preach. Follow the data, leverage the tools, commit to the process.
