bringing this back because I've been seeing a HELLUVA LOTTA PEOPLE either incorrectly using tw/cws or just straight up not using any at all which can be really harmful

where do tw/cws go?
tw/cws go AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR TWEET/PROSE/MESSAGE/LOVE LETTER/BLOG POST, not at the end after you've already talked about the shit that you're trying to warn people about

tw/cw death, suicide, self harm, abuse, rape, violence, gore/blood, eating disorders, weight loss, homophobia, transphobia
if you want to tweet about any of these things (esp if it's a thread & if it has sensitive photos/vids) consider popping in a tw/cw & SPELL THEM OUT FULLY

spelling out tw/cws is important because while the mute function on twitter is a thing, it's (quite) shit and not 100% effective
putting in a random * in a word (r*pe) means it won't get muted. unless people have typed in every single variation of the muted word with *s in it

(just want to also acknowledge that people sometimes put *s in names like t*ump or b*den to try and evade trolls who prowl twitter through searching for key words/terms. this isn't what we're talking about though)
some cw/tw's are broad, and some may seem more ~obvious~ than others but triggers are different for literally everyone. so if someone tells you something is harmful/triggering to them, pls fucking L I S T E N
and don't you dare tell them they're being dumb/dramatic about it

try and be mindful of the tweets that you 'like' & whether or not the OP is using tw/cws. because if you 'like' it, it might pop up on someone else's timeline without any warning at all
it sounds extra/OTT, but a simple QT with a tw/cw might really help someone out

clock this shit moving forward, & call it out when you see it. no one is perfect. hell, I'm still learning, so if you have more resources lmk!
we've all been fuckin' going THROUGH IT in this dumpsterfirediarrheatornado hellscape, so please (PLEASE) look out for each other

if you've made it this far and I still haven't convinced you and/or if you still think tw/cws are dumb and for snowflakes, I would love for you to read this thread
