WE CAN’T DEPEND ON THE COURTS TO UPHOLD ROE V. WADE.

Why we need to flip state legislatures, a thread:
In 1973, the Supreme Court ruled in Roe v. Wade that abortion was a constitutional right. At the time, abortion was illegal in nearly every state, but Roe mandated safe and legal abortion access nationwide.

So why are abortion rights still unequal? STATE LAWS.
Currently, abortion rights are codified in ONLY 13 states and Washington, D.C.

21 states have laws that can be used to ban abortion.
If Roe falls,

10 states have anti-abortion trigger laws that would take effect automatically

9 states could revert back to their pre-Roe bans

9 states could have court blocks lifted on currently unconstitutional bans

7 states said that they will impose maximum restrictions
And even with Roe, many people still aren’t guaranteed abortion access.

25% of pregnant Medicaid recipients give birth against their wishes

<10% of abortion clinics are in majority-POC communities

Deportation & public charge dissuade undocumented immigrants from seeking care
Roe v. Wade isn’t enough. And we need to be prepared for the possibility that it may be overturned by a conservative Supreme Court.

In order to guarantee every person the right to choose, we need to look beyond the federal courts and enshrine protections at the state level.
That’s why we’re focused on FLIPPING state legislative chambers in these key states:

✔️ Florida
✔️ Michigan
✔️ Minnesota
✔️ North Carolina
✔️ Pennsylvania
✔️ Arizona
✔️ Iowa
✔️ Ohio
