𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗟𝗶𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻?

Liposuction , also known as simply Lipo, is a surgical procedure that uses a suction technique to remove fat from specific areas of the body. It removes stubborn fat pockets that are resistant to diet and exercise.

Liposuction can be performed on multiple areas to help you achieve the physique you desire. Liposuction is designed to enhance definition and slim trouble areas. Common areas of correction include:⁣

Ab’s⁣, Hips⁣, Thighs⁣, Back⁣, Arms⁣, Neck⁣ & Knees⁣

Liposuction is a BODY CONTOURING procedure. IT IS NOT A WEIGHTLOSS procedure. If you're overweight, you're likely to lose more weight through diet and exercise or through bariatric procedures — such as gastric bypass surgery — than you would with liposuction.

Yes Liposuction does remove excess fat, but again the main objective is body contouring NOT weightloss. Most surgeons max out at 5 liters , which is equivalent to 11 lbs ( 2.2lbs / liter ) . If you’re 40 lbs overweight lipo won’t yield the results you’re looking for.

Also, liposuction can only remove the fat directly below skin(external fat) . Depending on how overweight you are, there’s a strong chance you have fat around your organs( internal fat) , below the muscle , which cannot be removed with liposuction.

𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙣𝙚?

Your surgeon will mark your body with lines/cirles/ dotted lines to indicate treatment areas . This also serves as a surgical guide fornthe doctor. If you consent , before pictures will also be taken

Next you'll get general anesthesia -- which means you will not be awake during the procedure -- or a “local,” which means you will be awake but not feel any pain. ( Allegedly)

This is what we call “Dancing on table“ she is absolutely in pain and can feel everything .

Me personally? Put me to sleep EVERYTIME.

Pretty sure I got my point across about local anesthesia. Let me get back on topic.

The next step is the injection of Tumescent fluid which accompanies every type of Liposuction method ( That I’m going to describe soon) . This happens with Local or General Anesthesia.

Tumescent lipo is the most common technique. Your surgeon injects a sterile solution , which consists of saline (salt water) lidocaine (pain relief) and epinephrine (causes blood vessel constriction).The solution makes it easier to suction the fat with less blood loss and pain.

No matter what technique your doctor uses , all forms of surgical liposuction involve the use of a thin tube, called a cannula, connected to a vacuum to suction the fat from your body.

𝙏𝙮𝙥𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙇𝙞𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣

Im going to briefly touch on the most popular techniques and spend the most time on my preferrred option ( VASER)

𝙇𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙧-𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙇𝙞𝙥𝙤 𝙤𝙧 𝙎𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙇𝙞𝙥𝙤, uses a high intensity fiber laser to produce a burst of energy to liquefy the fat. During LAL, the fat is complwtwlt emulsified. It can not be reinjected for a fat transfer

𝙋𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧 -𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙇𝙞𝙥𝙤 (𝙋𝘼𝙇) This type of liposuction uses a cannula that moves in a rapid back-n-forth motion. This vibration allows the surgeon to pull out tough fat more easily &faster. PAL may sometimes cause less pain and swelling .

𝙐𝙡𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙-𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙇𝙞𝙥𝙤 (𝙐𝘼𝙇) During UAL, the surgeon inserts a metal rod that emits ultrasonic energy under your skin. This ruptures the fat-cell walls and breaks down the fat for easier removal.

There’s a new generation of UAL called VASER-assisted liposuction. In the Lipo world , she is the new sheriff in town. VASER IS THAT GIRL!

Vibration amplification of sound energy at resonance” (VASER), is commonly used in liposculpture (also called VASER hi-def or high-definition lipo).

VASER makes traditional tumescent, or suction-assisted, liposuction (SAL) not only gentler but more efficient.

Let’s discuss who is NOT a good candidate for lipo.

I’ve already covered/discussed how you should ideally be close to your weight goal prior to getting in the table , but let’s discuss skin elasticity.

Often times woman fear that Tummy Tuck scar like it’s the bubonic plague and wish upon a star that somehow their loose, over stretched skin is going to magically fix its self with Lipo.

It’s not . It’s actually going to look worse

Liposuction removes fat below the skin, but when you have poor skin elasticity and/or muscle separation , usually you won’t be happy with your lipo results.

Poor baby . Ain’t enough tape or creams in the world to fix this. She absolutely needs a Tummy Tuck. ( Her doctor lied to her, that doctor tends to do that a lot)
