Seraphine is not based on mental illnesses and this person is full of shit who is only trying to get clicks on his video, a thread: https://twitter.com/SkoochLoL/status/1315427280735203328
Seraphine was introduced as a girl who worked at a coffee shop pursuing her dreams of becoming a pop artist. She then gets called by her K/DA idol, Ahri, to come and collaborate with them. (source: https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_US/comic/kdacomic/issue-2)
Her twitter account, @seradotwav, is supposed to show Seraphine's journey as an up and coming artist who is collaborating with the biggest Riot pop group, K/DA. Seraphine's tweets were made for worldbuilding and an attempt to connect in a relatable way with her fanbase.
These are regular amounts of anxiety. She is portrayed as a teenager who got her dreams and is now sent into an unfamiliar popstar world. No mental illness was explicitly said. She's just being a teenager.
While this is "cringe" to the person who originally tweeted this, they are not keeping in mind that this is stuff teenagers unironically tweet about. Anxiety, feeling lonely and lost in a world that you're unfamiliar of? Those all seem pretty normal especially in your adolescence
That was all we knew about her until her champion insight came out today that shows that she is, admittedly, a Sona character copy. The rest of this thread is going to showcase more on what was revealed on the champion insight.
Seraphine is very unique in the sense where she is the only one who can HEAR brackern crystals. Brackern crystals are the power source of Hextech items and tie deeply within Skarner's backstory. (source: https://na.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/news/dev/champion-insights-seraphine/)
Because of her devotion to music and her ability to hear crystals, she is able to empathize through song and that is portrayed through her abilities. Her character is supposed to be relatable in the sense where the pursuance of dreams like becoming a popstar can seem possible.
In the end, you have the CHOICE to spend $40 on Riot Points to buy her skin. The marketing was towards making her a relatable, teenage character and in no way capitalized on her explicitly having mental illnesses.
