there’s no real off-season in bubble basketball, that significantly disadvantages teams that do well in the playoffs especially the teams that make the finals because they have the least amount of recoup thus leaving them susceptible to sluggish starts going into the next season
it’s like they’re playing 2 seasons straight. making it to the finals is difficult enough but making it and then trying to compete at a championship level again in just 6 weeks is nearly impossible. and don’t say well they won’t be competing for a title in 6 weeks because i know
but only having a 6 week offseason is unheard of plus teams that lost in the playoffs or didn’t make it to the bubble will be much more rested and have more opportunity to build themselves up. Heat and Laker fans your guys did amazing and you all should be proud certainly but
how fair is it to ask them to put that strain on their bodies to play at this caliber again against teams who’ve had ample time to prepare and watch them? all of these guys are competitors so i know they’ll train hard to be back ready to hoop quickly and i’m excited to see it
but i have to be realistic and y’all can ask trainers i’m sure they’ll tell you that 6 weeks to turn back around and play at that high a level is not ideal especially when these players are accustomed to at least twice as long to prepare.
Finals ended the first time on October 11, 2020 this season started October 22, 2019 do you really expect that by Dec. 1 everybody who just finished playing yesterday will be ready? they only have 50 days...
