“from thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.”

Priest required age = 30

“And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,”

Christ age = 30

“Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, a holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.”

What were priest required during these holy convocations?

“And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.”

What did Christ do?

“And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.”

Water right? What did the priest do?

So how did John know about this water purification process and start using water baptisms.

What tribe was John the Baptist from ?

John the Baptist was from the tribe of Levi

That process was necessary for Christ to start his ministry and take the priesthood. That’s why he told John the Baptist:

“And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness.Then he suffered him.”
Matthew 3:15 KJVA

So it all goes back to the Law. John the Baptist didn’t just make water baptisms out of nowhere.

The reason Christ got baptized was to complete the purification process for the priesthood
