My daughter developed a cough a week ago on Friday. It was a “wet” cough and all of the gov info had always said dry so we just ignored to start with - no temp, no other symptoms - then happened to have a reminder email from her nursery about conditions of testing (1/8)
Decided just to double check we were doing the right thing (i.e. not wasting a test!) and it now just says cough... so Sunday we ordered a test. It arrived late Monday, so we had to register it and do the test on Tuesday (2/8)
This is the second test she has had because of a cough picked up at nursery, but no easier the second time, she absolutely hates it. There were tears. Immediately posted in the special post box on Tuesday morning. We didn’t get a text clearing her until Thursday evening. (3/8)
So if these post boxes are collected from regularly, we assume they would have been with the lab late Tuesday/early Wednesday? Nowhere near the supposed 24hr turnaround. Heading more for 48hr. (4/8)
Thankfully she was negative, nothing to be concerned about. But incidentally the information sent with her result reiterated that you must get checked for a “dry, persistent cough”... which she did not have. (5/8)
I don’t know if we’ve done something wrong there, but I’d just like to point out that we have been really cautious, perhaps overly so, throughout this whole thing, and I am so tired of feeling like govt are constantly blaming the public for not being vigilant enough. (6/8)
This is such a minor detail, but it isn’t consistent even in their information provided between two different formats (website and results) and is seemingly changed at will with no notice or explanation. (7/8)
I guess there isn’t much of a point to this thread, other than an exasperated rant. This year has been hard enough without shoving a cotton swab up my daughter’s nose unnecessarily. (8/8)
