I will do an objective analysis of power failure
Politically inclined people should stay away from the thread
First point: completely ruling out Chinese cyber attack.
Cyber attack is when a healthy system trips w/o any fault due to relay sabotage

Today power failure happened due to physical fault on lines. They were real fault
Out of 4 incoming lines to Kalwa substation of MSETCL one was in breakdown from 2 days, second line was in scheduled outage for replacement of worn out hardware.

When 2 lines were out 3rd line tripped on fault, complete load shifted on 4th. It was beyond its technical limit, it tripped
With its tripping 2 imp substation 400KV Kharghar n 400KV Kalwa went in dark

Due to it other than Thane district 360MW of Mumbai out of total of 2600 MW got affected
Maharashtra n Mumbai grid r separate. During normal times for reliability both work jointly
During grid problem in Maharashtra, Mumbai grid islands itself n work in isolation thro its

own dedicated generation (hydro + thermal)
Govt should investigate why Mumbai grid didn't island itself safely n whole Mumbai went in dark
Data of Tata power will be interesting. There statement in haste blaming MSETCL was quite a surprise

Still it comes under technical failure of switching unit
2nd point is line tripping which initiated the problem
The most vulnerable area is MMR region. In last couple of yrs lot of incidence of Thane, Kalyan, Dombivli n other urban areas going in dark due to congestion in

existing power network
MMR region has grown beyond their capacity. Capacity addition of substation n lines to cater to additional load have stuck up in land acquisition problem from yrs
100 cr, 200 cr substations r ready but incoming/outgoing lines

incomplete due to various factors like forest, private land, inter ministerial issues
On one hand capital stuck up due to incomplete, other hand due to it unit charge going up
Exiting network being 40 yrs old it requires regular maintenance

Network being overloaded, outages r rare n taken with due risk factor in mind
If outages n frequent replacement of worn out parts not carried out the restoration time during occurrences will span over days unlike few hours today

Politicians blaming each other today should sit n compile a list of how many substations, lines remaining incomplete because of different land issues
Isn't it collector, commissioner, secretary, minister, CS, CM responsibility to sort out land n other issues which r hampering

work
The only CM who sat with power sector engineer n completely turned around the situation was Narendra Modi
If every CM, leader understand how power sector in Gujarat overcome obstacles of land issues it will immensely hep their system

Lack of redundancy due to incomplete projects is the real reason for todays power failure
Rest is just mudslinging till the next failure happens
Last point: the unnecessary outrage created by politicians n others will result in fear in officers

Authorities will hesitate to take risk in doing work, sanctioning outage resulting in eventual deterioration of system
What happened in defence acquisition after bofors scam is well known, same policy paralysis after 2G scam

Technical issues should be solved by technical people n not by making someone spacegoat to silence hyper public
Leaders should encourage technical brains n offer their help in resolving issues suggested by them
